Hey iowacorn. Did a let's play of your game!  Played it all the way through, but had to cheat on the final dungeon. I had tons of fun though, just was too hard to complete, goddamn Macargos kept killing me... Probably your best game I've played so far from a gameplay perspective!

There was a pretty nasty bug preventing me from going into the final dungeon again if you leave after Queen Muffy opens the hidden entrace. The asshole guard wouldn't let me through again...

Also I got stuck, and ended up cheating to get Queen Muffy's bicycle, couldn't find where it was.

Also you forgot to put stats on the final weapons you find in the final dungeon as well...

Ordinarily I hate random encounters, but this game was very well designed and worked with them very well!  Too many RPGs nowadays don't have resource management, and it was fun judging whether you could make it back to town or not before running out of mp or herbs.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy watching the let's play iowacorn!

I completely forgot how powerful the Magcargo were, very funny with their Lavastorm. What a playthrough! Thanks for actually finishing it. There were a lot of bugs I know, since it was only a month for a full game like that. You forgot to explore the northwestern section of Cerulean Castle, the Old Town, which is where you'd find all kinds of treasure. You were supposed to backtrack to Pewter and Pallet with the MagicKey in order to find the Dragon Balls. There were 2 mini-dungeons and bosses you missed. The final cave was brutal and I didn't playtest shit lol, so the stats given to those last enemies are stupid. If I ever fix the game up I'd adjust stats, fix broken events, and maybe add more hints about where to go.

As long as a game is designed within consistent boundaries, it can be a 'good' game.
I didn't think I could enjoy games with random encounters and older design sensibilities in mind, but TJ kept bringing me back until I grapsed the proper risk assessment and item management skills to warily press through areas. The twisting mazes, limited save points, and EXCELLENT battle encounter variety granted a sense of tension and immersion I didn't realize was missing.
The jokes grant great reprieves, too.                                                                               TJ is a grueling, but rewarding run. Excellent shit.

Best played with a controller, and in EasyRPG player in RetroArch with your choice of CRT filters on. Better yet, find an old CRT and play it on there, somehow. Requires grinding, but not an ungodly amount. Lots of namedrops and respect for other /vrpg/ jammers. SAVE OFTEN.
